As of now, most of the microbial strains used in cosmetics are animal-originated. Although there are some plant-originated strains, they are mainly originated from kimchi or soybean paste, but they are not commonly used as the cosmetic active ingredients. Recently, there are many fermented cosmetic products which are focusing on the origin of the strains.
100% sustainable fermented vegan ingredients are mainly used as active ingredients in these products.
GNS developed a vegetable culture medium for 100% vegan strains. The representative plant-originated strains are isolated from White Carnation, Apricot Flower, Grape, and Cornus Fruit.
GNS has isolated 23 strains of 100% plant-originated strains and stored them at GNS's own microbial bank kept at -80℃.
Lactobacillus isolated from Apple
Fermented Soy milk
The strains used for Soy Miliome is Lactobacillus plantarum isolated from apples. When soy milk is fermented with Lactobacillus, lactic acid is produced with high amount.
Soy Miliome is a 100% vegan fermentation ingredient showing an anti-inflammatory effect with 100 ppm of lactic acid.

RiFerm is fermented filtrate of rice water. The rice starch is fermented with Saccharomyces cerevisae isolated from grapes. Through GNS's fermented process, bioavailability is improved. RiFerm is patented for its anti-oxidant, anti-wrinkle, and skin hydration properties.

Natural SW is made of 5 different fermented white ingredients. The primary raw materials, bean, rice, and ginseng are fermented with apple-originated strain, and adlay and potato are fermented with grape-originated strain.
