What is going on at the home of K-Beauty?

It's finally here. The one and only domestic field of ingredient innovation, in-cosmetics Korea is organized on its biggest scale ever! The long queue of visitors was waiting to enter from 10 in the morning as it was the first even after the release of social distancing. In this in-cosmetics Korea, more than 230 personal care ingredient companies from China, Japan and other countries around the world took part.

The Garden of Naturalsolution (GNS) also greeted and had conversations with various customers. Just like previous in-cosmetics Global, GNS summarized in-cosmetics Korea in 3 keywords for you to easily catch up! Here we go!

 
Keyword ①
Anti-glycated collagen,
now it's time to zero-sugar your skin!

Zero sugar has risen as a trend in the industry of the year. This reflects the consumer psychology to catch two rabbits at the same time; to have what they want but also run away from calorie concerns. However, you could find a similar context in the cosmetic industry as well. Through the study, researchers found out that excessive sugar causes hardened sebum to clog the pore and cause skin troubles such as acne. But did you know this also applies to collagen? The excess sugar from a variety of foods attaches to collagen and hardened to lose skin elasticity.


We also presented the anti-glycation mechanism for skin zero-sugar in the technical seminar, in-cosmetics Korea. Our amazing principal research engineer, Dr Han, introduced the process of anti-collagen glycation mechanism research by using some GNS products as an example. Although the seminar was taken early in the morning, the room was almost full. Especially, everyone in the room was busy taking pictures when Brown Energy was introduced. Phyto-derma, new trending in K-beauty

The most seen keywords at the in-cosmetics Korea booth! It's plant-derived PDRN. In fact, PDRN is a type of dermatologic injection procedure called "Rejuran" that you are familiar with. You can find various brands launching injection-inspired derma skincare products on Korean online shopping platforms.


Many derma-ingredients were previously developed based on organisms such as salmon or seaweed, but they have been transformed and rebranded as 'Vegan' or 'Phyto’ ingredients this year. 'Phyto-derma' is a new trend that combines 3 factors: popularity of natural ingredients in Korea, the global mega-trend of clean beauty, the demand from consumers who want powerful effect of skincare.


We have also been collecting ideas for the development of phyto-derma ingredients. We aim to develop daily skincare routines that are simple but effective, without downtime, by implementing ingredients that replicate the components of medical aesthetic skincare. Natural Extract 2.0, Evolved Trends

"Clean Beauty & Sustainability" are still the hottest trend in Korea and seems to continue for a while. As Korea is well-known for discovering plant stories and the efficacy of natural extracts, this year's in-cosmetics Korea has introduced the "Natural Extract Zone". The zone presented how natural extracts play a key role. Through this in-cosmetics Korea, the evolution of natural extracts can be summarized into two points: 


  • Natural Extract from 1.0 to 2.0: If natural 1.0 was only replacing artificially synthetic compounds to natural ingredients, natural extract 2.0 focuses on upgrading appealing points and efficacy. This is why bioconversion (including fermentation), exosome, and microbiomes were recognized in various booths.  


  • Vegan to Phyto: Vegan was the definite mainstream for the past few in-cosmetics. However, people are now more focused on the plant itself, and we call this 'Phyto".

Icy Smoothie Gel

During in-cosmetics Korea, the outdoor temperature reached around 30 degrees and maybe that is why Icy Smoothie Gel made people stop at the GNS booth. Icy smoothie gel is an immediate cooling agent comprising the advantage of commonly used elements such as methanol, denatured alcohol and erythritol. Not only it is hypoallergenic as this work as phase change, it is made of EWG green-graded ingredients!

BotaCair

This is the "BotaCair" that caught many people's eyes. Maybe you might already know it as GNS's total haircare product. It improves scalp conditions with antibacterial and antioxidant efficacy and even provides anti-lose care by boosting hair growth gene expression. Furthermore, as it is a patent product, this could be also used as one and only ingredient.
