What They Have Gained from Working for Several Years
We asked professionals with varying years of experience what they gained from their stress-filled careers. Surprisingly, many mentioned experiencing “a widening crown” and “accelerated facial aging” as noticeable effects of their work life. Are hair loss and aging truly connected to stress?
Sad but true
Stress affects not only health but also appearance, notably accelerating hair loss and aging, prematurely aging individuals. Stress induces the hormone cortisol, which speeds up aging by depleting skin collagen and increases hair loss by heightening factors that contribute to scalp hair loss.
More details on mechanisms below????
- Skin:Elevated cortisol levels increase blood sugar and advanced glycation end product (AGEs), which increase collagen-degrading enzymes and eventually degrade collagen types 1 and 3.
- Scalp: Elevated cortisol levels increase DKK-1, a hair loss trigger that inhibits hair follicle regeneration, exacerbating hair loss by reducing VEGF and ALP, crucial factors in hair follicle generation.
