White wine is a wine that is fermented without skin contact. It is produced by the alcoholic fermentation of the non-coloured pulp of grapes, which may have a skin of any color. White wine has existed for at least 2500 years. White wine is an acidic beverage with a pH ranging from 2.8 to 3.6. This acidity is an aggressive element to tooth enamel. In recent studies, white wine was indicated to have some cardiovascular benefits. As well, white wine contains anti-oxidants, although red wine contains higher levels of antioxidants. Both white and red wines are effective in preventing LDL oxidation.
