Cytisus scoparius (syn. Sarothamnus scoparius), commonly called scotch broom or common broom, is a deciduous shrub from western and central Europe. This plant has been used to treat several ailments as folk medicines for its diuretic, anti-diabetic and sedative properties. Also, it is well known for Ayurvedic herb with its various active compounds such as flavonols, kaempferol, and isoflavones. Several experimental studies verified its pharmacological activities related to these active ingredients.
