Acorus gramineus belongs to the Araceae family and is a perennial aromatic herb widely distributed in Korea, Japan, and China. The rhizomes of this plant have long been used in Traditional Oriental Medicine as a remedy for cognitive problems, sedation, and analgesia. The herb has also been used as a traditional medicine for treating stomachache and edema and improving learning and memory. According to recent studies, A. gramineus contains various compounds, such as asarone, caryophyllene, isoasarone, methyl isoeugenol, and safrol. Furthermore, it has been noted that the extract of A. gramineus rhizomes has fungicidal and insecticidal activities.
