Citrus unshiu is a citrus
species, commonly known as tangerine or mandarine. One of the distinguishing
features of the fruits of C . unshiu
is the thin, leathery skin dotted with large and prominent oil. Green tangerine
is a premature tangerine which has similar citrus fragrance as tangerine. Green
tangerine peel has been used in traditional medicine in Korea, China and Japan.
It contains similar chemical components as tangerine, but flavonoid composition
is higher than tangerine. It has been reported that green tangerine has more
anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory than mature tangerine.
