Peumus boldus, commonly known as boldo, is the only species in the genus Peumus. It is native to Chile and is used throughout Latin America. Its leaves, which have a strong woody and slightly bitter flavor, have been widely used as a remedy for liver disorders and gall stones and as a urinary tract antiseptic. It is usually drunk as herbal tea, often mixed with yerba mate in Latin America.
