Aletris farinosa, also called true unicorn or white stargrass, is a perennial herb native to North America. Traditionally, the roots of A. farinosa have been used as an herbal medicine by Native Americans. The common name is from the appearance of flower that is similar to unicorn’s horn. It has been known to contain various phytochemicals such as flavonoids and steroidal saponin, diosgenin that acts like female hormone, estrogen. True Unicorn Extract-NS is an extract of A. farinosa and it shows a strong anti-oxidant activity as well as skin brightening activity.
