Commonly known as Chinese angelica or wild angelica, A. dahurica is an important crude herb used in Traditional Oriental Medicine. For centuries, A. dahurica has been mainly used to treat headaches, relieve nasal obstruction, detoxify the blood, and as a pain reliever. The major active compounds derived from A. dahurica are the major coumarin compounds, phellopterin, isoimperatorin, imperatorin, alloimperatorin, byakangelicin, isooxypeucedanin, and pimpinellin, which are reported to have remarkable anti-cancer and anti-bacterial effects.
