Dictyophora indusiata, a synonym of Phallus indusiatus, is commonly called a bamboo mushroom, long net stinkhorn, or veiled lady due to its shape. The fruit body spreads net-like indusium to the grounds, and it looks like a women`s skirt of middle-age. The mushroom is easily discovered on bamboo groves, especially in tropical areas. This edible mushroom has been consumed as a food ingredient and folk medicine in China for a long time.
Several studies have shown that Dictyophora indusiate has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-bacterial effects. The polysaccharides extract from D. indusiate showed inhibitory activity for pro-inflammatory cytokine and ROS generation. Also, a study revealed its anti-bacterial potential by isolating an antibiotic albaflavenone from D. indusiate.
