Helichrysum arenarium is an aromatic perennial flowering plant commonly known as dwarf everlast, everlasting, or strawflower. It is native to and grows throughout the Mediterranean region and Europe. The aromatic yellow flowers have a long history of use in floral arrangements and as an herbal tea, especially popular in Turkey. Plants of the Helichrysum genus have been used medicinally for gall bladder, respiratory, and digestive disorders. In Western Herbal Medicine, H. arenarium is still used as a cholagogue for its hepatoprotective properties.

In some scientific reports, an extract of H. arenarium exhibited anti-bacterial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumonia clinical isolates. Also, anti-oxidant effects were reported, including hydrogen-donating ability and radical scavenging activity.
