Prunus persica is a deciduous tree which bears edible juicy fruit also called a peach. The plant is native to China belonging to the genus Prunus which includes cherry and plum, in the family Rosaceae. The pink flowers with five petals are produced in early spring before the leaves. Peach blossoms are highly prized in Asian culture. In Asia, where the blossoms are used as a tea, it was believed that the peach possesses more vitality than other trees because the peach blossoms appear before leaf sprouts.
