Pinus densiflora is an evergreen conifer distributed mostly in Korea, China, and Japan. It is commonly called Korean red pine or simply pine tree. As it is an evergreen tree, pine has been used as a metaphor for strong spirit and integrity from the old days and that is why ancestors of these countries loved the pine tree. Pine needle tea is a beloved traditional tea in Korea with a deep fragrance of pine needles. Dried pine needles are generally used for tea, but fermented pine needles, which were stored in sugar for several weeks, are also used. Pine needle tea is known to be good for stress relieving, decreasing blood sugar levels, and preventing hair loss. It is also known for strong anti-oxidant activity.
